Smiley started off on the Moana tribe, and was a very key asset in keeping his tribe safe throughout the premerge. He also found himself sitting pretty on his tribe, having an in with the majority alliance. Smiley never truly was in danger at all, and played a great starting game with the cards dealt. A tribe swap however, quickly left him on the bottom of his tribe although he should've been safe with the Moana majority. Jadyn, Emerald, and Alice saw him as a very loyal number to Jay, and also knew how dangerous of a threat he would be had the merge hit. However, he was able to sit peacefully for the remainder of the premerge when his tribe never saw the light of tribal council up to the merge. At the merge, Smiley was a quick threat for many. He was called out as being a physical threat, as well as being someone who sat pretty on his side of the numbers. Smiley assisted in taking out Emerald, a dangerous strategic threat who was after him the entire time. While Smiley didn't talk much to the other side, some could argue he never needed to as he never was a huge threat at that point in the merge. However, after Andy was blindsided, Smiley's control of the numbers as well as his bond to Soccer caused the opposing side to seek his head on a stick, had Jay won immunity. After Jay won immunity, Smiley's downfall was seemingly set up to happen, but luck was on his side. After receiving the majority of the votes, five votes, Jay then stood up and played his super idol on Smiley. This saved Smiley from going home, and allowed for Tanner to be taken out. At the next tribal council, Smiley stuck loyal to his side in order to keep himself safe, and went to rocks. This risky moved pulled off to be very smart for his game, as his side seemingly held the numbers advantage with Lizzy, Jay, and Joaquin. However, when Joaquin realized how close Smiley was to Jay as well as how much of a threat he could be in the endgame, Joaquin used this chance of vulnerability to blindside Smiley. While Smiley was never too talkative and never had a lasting impression on some, he really was a great castaway and someone who never gave up. He always tried his best, was dedicated to the game, and was simply just a loyal ally to his side. Smiley showed that being loud isn't always needed in the game of Survivor, and was a huge threat to win if seated correctly.
